Terms of Service

1. Your account

You may use CheckMention as an individual consumer or on behalf of a business. You must provide a valid email address, keep access to your account secure, and ensure that you have authority to act for any business you represent.

2. The service

CheckMention helps you track configured product, domain, and topic mentions and review matching conversations in the CheckMention Mac app. Features may change as the product develops, but a material reduction in a paid service will not remove any rights you have under applicable law.

For always-on Hacker News monitoring, CheckMention processes your Hacker News product catalog and public Hacker News items on its servers, stores normalized content for items matched to your catalog or tracked posts, and synchronizes those results to the Mac app. Saved, Completed, and human-feedback state remains on your Mac. Other source search rules, collected source content, and local analysis remain on your Mac unless the service clearly describes a different source-specific arrangement.

3. Free trial and Monthly membership

CheckMention offers one Monthly membership for USD $19 per month. A new eligible account may start a 14-day free trial without providing a payment method. The trial begins only when you select Start Free Trial.

The trial does not convert automatically into a paid membership. At the end of the trial, access expires unless you separately choose to activate Monthly and provide payment details. Recurring charges begin only after that separate activation. You may cancel Monthly through your account billing controls.

4. Acceptable use

You must use CheckMention lawfully and only with sources and accounts you are permitted to access. You must not interfere with the service, bypass access controls, distribute malware, infringe third-party rights, or use the service to harass or unlawfully monitor another person.

5. Source services and content

Mentions may come from third-party websites or services. Their availability, content, and terms are controlled by those third parties. CheckMention does not own third-party source content and cannot guarantee that every relevant mention will be available or detected.

6. Suspension and termination

You may stop using CheckMention at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address unlawful use, security risk, non-payment, or a material breach of these Terms. Where practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

7. Consumer rights

If you use CheckMention as a consumer, mandatory consumer protections and any statutory withdrawal, conformity, refund, or remedy rights available to you remain unaffected. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Contact hello@checkmention.com to exercise a consumer right.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CheckMention is provided without a guarantee that every mention will be found or that third-party sources will remain available. We do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for intentional misconduct or other non-excludable consumer claims.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will present the updated Terms for acceptance before requiring continued use of affected account services.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Estonian law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections of the country where you habitually reside, and you may use any court or dispute-resolution forum available to you under applicable law.
